Camara Laye put Guinea on the map thanks to his excellent books, especially the imaginative ones. Laye’s works included The African Child, The Radiance of the King, and A Dream of Africa
The Radiance of the King was especially hailed as an almost unique work written by a b lack African, reversing the archetypal situation where a white man, Clarence finds himself in Africa, bewildered and stripped of virtually everything. Though there has been some controversy over Laye’s authorship of one or two of his works his reputation is secure.
